FUFA Women Elite League Final | Sunday, May 25, 2025
- Asubo Ladies Vs St Noa Girls – Kabaka Kyabaggu | 4 PM
This Sunday at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, two rising giants of women’s football, Asubo Ladies FC and St Noa Girls, will battle for supremacy in the FUFA Women Elite League Final.
While both sides have already secured promotion to the prestigious FUFA Women Super League, the title match promises more than just silverware. It is a clash of ambition, redemption and a statement of intent for the future.
Under the steady hand of Coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera, St Noa Girls has been a revelation this season. Making their debut in the top-flight next season, St Noa dominated the Elizabeth group with an astonishing ten wins and two draws and conceded just a single goal, which came against seasoned side Kawempe Muslim 2.
Kintu, whose quiet confidence has become a hallmark of the team’s resilience, believes the journey is only beginning.
“I am very sure we shall bring something home,” he said ahead of the final, signaling intent that the team will not settle for promotion alone.
For a squad that has methodically dismantled its opponents throughout the campaign, Sunday presents an opportunity to cement their invincible season with a trophy.
For Asubo Ladies FC, Sunday’s final is more than a football match, it’s a mission to rewrite a painful chapter. Having been relegated from the Super League just last season, Asubo has clawed their way back with a vengeance.
Topping the Victoria group with nine wins, two draws and one loss, the team has shown grit, experience and a fierce hunger for redemption.
They return to the same stadium where heartbreak struck last year in a final loss to Makerere University WFC. This time, they are determined not to walk away empty-handed.
“Our focus has been mental and tactical,” said Asubo Captain Desire Kaitesi.
“We are experienced players like Brenda Butti, Nalumu Brenda and Nakuya Sarah have played at the highest levels with Lady Doves. Even Babirye Sarah, formerly of St Noa, brings invaluable experience.”
Coach Kibumba Ibrahim, a decorated former national team and top-tier club player, expressed his pride in the team’s resilience.
“I’m very happy because my girls are ready,” he shared.
“They have worked hard, together with my coaches and management. I’m hoping we shall win the finals.”
Kibumba also made a heartfelt appeal to supporters: “I request many fans to come. They should enjoy the good football we are going to show on Sunday.”
While both teams have already secured their tickets to Uganda’s top division, the final offers something intangible yet deeply meaningful affirmation.
For St Noa, a championship would crown their flawless ascent. For Asubo, it would complete a full-circle comeback story that echoes with resilience and renewal.
