The 2022 Mwiri League came to an end on Sunday following eight successful outings at two venues in Hill Top Gardens and Entebbe Cricket Grounds.
The grand finale dubbed ‘The wrap up’ had the Old Students of Busoga College and well-wishers gather at Kyambogo Cricket Oval for a fun filled day.
The outing had more than sports as ladies dressed to kill to give the venue a worthy optical nutrition.
To the big boys, the current tight economy had nothing on them as the drinks kept flowing akin to River Nile.
The partying had all ingredients with a Blankets and Wines set up which was briefly disturbed by rain.
The booze, muchomo and ladies around the Mwirians had no one complain about the cold evening as the party went on till late.
Away from the party animals to sports, the day had Cricket, the most famous sport discipline at the College with football and board games on the menu too.
Different cohorts battled for pride and the outstanding teams plus individuals were rewarded at the end of the day.
The biggest winners of the day were Atletico Muniga, class of 2002 to 2007 also known as the Kyabazinga cohort who won the Cricket title and claimed the overall title as well.
Salvo, class of 1998 to 2003 won the soccer competition unbeaten. The side had a cocktail of the old and young in their squad to strike a good balance.
Away from team effort to individual brilliance, Silver Opwonya of Salvo scooped the top scorers gong.
Still with football, Chris Muyinda from Mbawo FC walked back home as the manager of the season.
In the Cricket circles, Cricket Cranes opening batsman Emmanuel Hasahya from Atletico Muniga was voted as the best batsman.
His manager, Dan Batuwa was named as the best team manager cricket.
Also worthy mentioning, one of the Mwiri League sponsors in Uganda Airlines gave out two return tickets to Mombasa and Zanzibar.
Best match day host Manager, Bukuwa Charles of Solida (Class 1995-2000) and Rodney Mugisha the overall MVP from Ruga Ruga (class 1988-1993) were the ticket winners respectively.
