The Benjamin Mkapa Stadium erupted in green and yellow on Wednesday night as Young Africans SC, led by Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho, claimed their fourth straight Tanzania Premier League title with a 2–0 win over fierce rivals Simba SC.

In front of a packed stadium and under the watch of Egyptian referees, Yanga needed just a point to clinch the title, but they went for the win and got it.

After a cagey first half, Pacome Zouzoua opened the scoring, sparking wild celebrations among Yanga fans. Clement Mzize added a second soon after, sealing the win and the championship.

The match also featured a showdown of Ugandan stars, with Aucho bossing the midfield while Steven Desse Mukwala started for Simba.

But this was Aucho’s night—his composure and leadership anchored Yanga through a high-pressure encounter.

The win lifted Young Africans to 82 points, four ahead of Simba, and secured their record 31st league title.

It also strengthened their dominance in the Kariakoo Derby, with Yanga now boasting 42 wins in 114 meetings since 1965. Simba has 32 wins; the rest ended in draws.

Yanga have now won five of the last six derbies, underscoring their current stranglehold on Tanzanian football.
