Aucho says Goodbye to Yanga after four successful years

Uganda Cranes captain Khalid Aucho has officially parted ways with Tanzania’s Young Africans SC, ending a remarkable four-year spell with the club.

The 30-year-old midfielder joined Yanga in 2021 from Misr El Makassa in Egypt and went on to help the team win four Tanzania Premier League titles, three FA Cups, and three Community Shields.

He also played a big role in Yanga’s run to the 2023 CAF Confederation Cup final, where they finished second to Algeria’s USM Alger.

Aucho’s exit follows a breakdown in contract talks. The club offered a one-year extension, but the player was hoping for two, talks stalled, and the two sides parted ways.

“This isn’t goodbye, just a ‘see you later,’” Aucho wrote in a message to fans on Facebook and X. “I’ve lived unforgettable moments here. Yanga has become family.”

While Aucho hasn’t confirmed his next destination, reports suggest he could be heading to Vietnam.

Before his time in Tanzania, Aucho played in several countries, turning out for clubs like Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, Baroka, Red Star Belgrade, and East Bengal.
