The defending champions, Aziz Damani, bounced back to winning ways following their double header win against Jinja SS in the National Women’s T20 League on Saturday at the Green Oval in Entebbe.

Damani went into the game off a disappointing double header loss to Olila High a fortnight ago, but they returned to winning ways after seeing off the Jinja students on Saturday.

Their first game against the Jinja side was a 7 wicket win, and they followed it with another victory that came in form of a 4 wicket win in the afternoon.

In the absence of Damani’s core players in Consy Aweko, Immaculate Nakisuyi, Proscovia Alako and Patricia Malemekia who were in Rwanda for the national team engagement, Gloria Obukor, who wasn’t summoned for national team duties took the mantle to lead her team.

Obukor who is primarily a batter took on the bowling duties as well against Habib Mugalula‘s girls.

She picked a wicket in the morning game before plucking two in the afternoon one. And with the bat, she scored 16 and 19 respectively.

Julia Karungi also got a combined three wickets while Teddy Oyella got a combined two.

Oyella (19) was also handy with the bat in the afternoon game while Noame Mbwali scored 25 in the same game.

It is Damani’s seventh win of the campaign, but it only takes them to the second position.

Olila after winning their games against Jinja SS last weekend remain placed top, but have played two games more than Soroti City who now occupy the third position.

Jinja SS who have won just two games stay placed second from the bottom with a paltry four points.
