Baby Cricket Cranes Win Over Tanzania, But Batting Still a Concern

The Baby Cricket Cranes picked up a 7-wicket win over Tanzania in their third game at the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup Qualifiers ongoing in Dar es Salaam.

However, their batting woes continued, as they were once again restricted to a below-par score.

Joseph Baguma was the star with the ball for Uganda, taking 6 wickets to help bowl out Tanzania for just 48 runs. The 17-year-old is now the leading wicket taker (9) at this tourney.

However, the Ugandan batsmen struggled to get going, and were only able to reach their target with 21 overs to spare.

It took Tanzania five Overs to find their first wicket, but once they did, they made things very uncomfortable for the Ugandan camp.

Gerald Olipa top-scored for Uganda with 14 runs, while Ronald Omara added 15.

However, no other batsman managed to reach double figures, as Hamza Ally Onai took 3 wickets for Tanzania.

The win keeps Uganda level on points with Namibia, but with a far inferior net run rate.

Namibia convincingly beat Kenya by 7 wickets in their latest game, and they stay top of the table.

Uganda will take a break before returning to action on Friday against Kenya.

They will need to improve their batting if they want to challenge for a place in the World Cup.
