Badminton and Futsal were unveiled with Netball expanded to Masaza Cup as Buganda announced its Sports Calendar for 2025.
According to the calendar read by the Sports, Youth and Arts Minister of Buganda, Robert Sserwanga, at Bulange in Mnego, Futsal got its first inclusion and is set for the debut year with Under-12 competition gala on the 3rd and 4th of April while the Over-30 competition is expected to commence along with Bika Football tournament starting from 19th April to 31st May 2025.
For Badminton, the Buganda Open shall be taking place on the tentative date of 8th-10th August with players taking part in different age categories starting from Under-10 to Veterans.
The other new item on the calendar confirmed is the Netball Gombolola and Masaza Cup with only players who will future in the Gombolola tournament to be licensed for the Masaza Cup.
The 2025 Buganda sports calendar is scheduled to start off with both Football and Netball Gombolola Cups on 19 January to 30th March while Kabaka and Nabagereka Schools Cups shall take action between 13th to 16th March.
The calendar shall commence with other key competitions like the Kabaka Birthday Run on 6th April, Bika Netball, Masaza Cycling competition, Omweso, Masaza Cup between 5th July to 1st November, Rugby on 2nd August, Golf tournament and others.
Over 200,000 participants are expected to play in Buganda Sports games in the year 2025 while the biggest number is expected to turn up as fans and others are expected to benefit from the games through the business side.
