Badminton Players set for ISF U15 Gymnasiade

Four Uganda badminton players are set for the 2025 International School Sport Federation (ISF) that is scheduled for 4th-14th April 2025 in Zlatibor, Serbia.

The four players include Abigail Ndagire, Ayikoru Ruth, Owaruhanga Edward and Ssekanjako Benjamin from Seroma Christian High School.

The team that is among the 47 athletes and officials travelling in the second batch to Serbia departed from Entebbe airport at 11:00 am using Turkish Airlines, and the first batch is already in Serbia.

Team Uganda was flagged off on Monday at Copper Chimney, Lugogo, by Cleophas Mugenyi, acting Director of Basic Education, Ministry of Education and Sports, who was the chief guest.

Of these, 31 are student athletes (15 boys and 16 girls) for badminton, table tennis, swimming and athletics.

HOW TEAMS WILL PLAY

Seroma Christian High School will be playing three sports disciplines: Badminton, Swimming and Table Tennis.

Kibuli SS will play table tennis (Boys and Girls), and Athletics will be Team Uganda.

BADMINTON’S PAST APPEARANCES

In 2021, four badminton players, Ndagire Ketty from Rubaga Girls, Nakiyemba Nazifah from Mbogo High School, Eric Ofuyuru (Kakungulu Memorial School) and Oduka Akbar (Kibuli SS) represented Uganda in the U15 International School Sports games that were held in Belgrade, Serbia, and they played up to the quarterfinals.
