As Badminton Uganda continues to spread its wings into grassroots, over 150 schools from seven districts across the Teso sub-region and parts of the Busoga district benefit via the Shuttle Time initiative.
Speaking at the closing of the second phase of the initiative that commenced on March 28 and climaxed on April 9, Simon Mugabi, the Chief Executive Officer of Badminton Uganda, remarked that he was satisfied and hopeful to continue the programme.

“We are optimistic that this is a good number of students being able to learn the game of badminton, and of course, they will start to compete among the districts. After this successful round, we will continue with the third round as the northern part of Uganda also becomes a beneficiary.”
The workshops covered districts like Ngora, Kumi, Bukedea, Butaleja, Butebo, Pallisa, and Kaliro.
The campaign, which was fully initiated last year by touring about five districts including Iganga, Rwampara, Kayunga, Nakaseke, and Pader, saw several schools pick up benefits from the first phase of the programme.
The Shuttle Time programme is not just focused on pulling national wide coverage for the sport as per the task set by the National Sports Act 2023, but it is more focused on knowledge outreach, as it is well aimed at by BWF.
