SC Villa have brought back Moses Basena as their new Technical Director, signaling a fresh start for the 17-time league champions.
A former player and coach at the club, Basena returns to take on a key leadership role, tasked with shaping the team’s long-term football strategy.
He brings vast experience from stints with URA, KCCA, Simba SC, UPDF, Rwanda’s Sunrise FC, and most recently, Ihefu SC in Tanzania. He also served as assistant coach to Uganda Cranes under Micho.
Basena’s appointment is part of a wider shake-up at Villa Park. Former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Sam Kawalya is now the goalkeeping coach, replacing Yusuf Ssenyonjo. Club great Dan Mubiru is back as team manager, while Hakim Ssenkumba will lead the junior team.
The changes follow the arrival of head coach Zeljko Kovacevic, who replaced Morley Byekwaso after a tough 2024/25 season.
