Batball and Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) have announced a strategic partnership dedicated to the development of cricket in Africa.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the growth of grassroots cricket, with a primary focus on fostering youth cricket tournaments across Uganda.
The partnership will prioritize the creation of more youth-centred tournaments aimed at nurturing the next generation of Ugandan cricket talent.
By focusing on young players, UCA and Batball seek to develop local talent and promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and excellence through cricket. The initiative will serve as a platform to identify and train young cricketers, ensuring a steady pipeline of talent for the national teams.
“We at BATBALL are incredibly proud and grateful to join forces with the Uganda Cricket Association in this exciting partnership that aligns with our vision. Together, we will create more opportunities for young Ugandans, especially those in developing regions, to showcase their cricketing talent and build a brighter future through sport. This collaboration is about finding the next cricket stars and instilling values like discipline, teamwork, and resilience in the youth. By investing in these young players and improving access to a multimedia showcase of their talent, we are ensuring that the love for cricket grows stronger across the country. We are also committed to the cause of empowering young girls to take up the sport, and with the assistance of UCA and its regional partners in bringing a gender equity sport-wide,” Aakarshit Madaan, the CEO of Batball said.
Key Highlights of the Partnership:
- Increased Youth Cricket Tournaments:
UCA, in collaboration with the BatBall, will organize youth tournaments across various regions of Uganda. These tournaments will cater to boys U-19, providing them with more opportunities to compete, grow, and develop their cricketing skills. - Talent Identification and Development:
The partnership will focus on talent scouting and skill development at the grassroots level. Through a network of scouts and coaches, young players will be identified, mentored, and given the support they need to thrive. - Coaching and Mentorship Programs:
The initiative will include coaching clinics and mentorship programs led by experienced cricket professionals, ensuring that the youth are equipped with both technical and life skills that will help them on and off the field. - Infrastructure Support:
To ensure that young players have access to the best facilities, BatBall will contribute to the improvement of cricket pitches and equipment in schools and local communities. This support will foster a conducive environment for cricket development.
“We are thrilled to partner with the BatBall in this significant step towards uplifting cricket among the youth in Uganda. By providing our young cricketers with the necessary platforms and tools to succeed, we are laying a solid foundation for the future of Ugandan cricket. This partnership will help us to continue identifying and developing the talent that will keep us competitive on the international stage. BatBall will work under the school development program (SDP) with clearly defined KPIs to be monitored and evaluated by the Development Manager. Bat Ball joins other development partners such as CWB and MCC as we continue to make sure every child in Uganda gets a chance to play cricket,” Jackson Kavuma, the Uganda Cricket Association honourable secretary.
