The Batball X tournament exploded into action at the lively Jinja SS Oval, and no team made a louder statement than the Leopards.
They played twice, won twice, and walked off as the only unbeaten side of Day One.
The tone was set early. With the morning sun still rising, the Leopards got to work with calm confidence.
Captain Pius Oloka opened with sharp strokes, but the innings truly settled when Richard Sohera took charge. His composed 43 guided the Leopards to a solid 102.
The Elephants started their chase brightly through Ronald Magezi, briefly hinting at trouble. But once Enock Muwanguzi found his rhythm, the innings began to crack.
Sohera returned with the ball to claim two key wickets, tightening the noose. Samuel Kalyowa fought late, but the Elephants fell 34 runs short, giving the Leopards their first win.
By afternoon, the Leopards were brimming with belief. Oloka again provided the base before Paul Mulongo’s fearless 35 and Jonathan Nyiro’s quick 24 pushed them to 99.
The Bulls approached their chase carefully, but Oloka struck early to unsettle them. From there, Sohera and Nyiro bowled with precision, building pressure until the Bulls unraveled.
A flurry of run outs and misjudgments followed, and they were dismissed for 43, handing the Leopards a dominant 56-run victory.
Elsewhere, the Rhinos defended 89/3 brilliantly to beat the Elephants by 18 runs. The Bulls later regrouped to chase down 73/5 and defeat the Rhinos by five wickets.

Those results suggested a competitive field, but none matched the Leopards’ sharpness.
