BATBALL X is back in Jinja, marking the start of the second season of the BATBALL Program, a fast-growing platform shaping the future of Uganda’s cricket talent.
The Jinja T10 edition will run from 27–30 November 2025 at the Jinja SSS Cricket Oval.
Organized by Batball Uganda Limited in partnership with Cricket Uganda and the Jinja Association of Cricket Clubs (JACC), this year’s tournament expands to the U-22 category.
It’s a key step that connects youth cricket with university players, A-team hopefuls, and those knocking on the senior national team’s door.
Four teams; Leopards, Bulls, Elephants, and Rhinos will contest a double round robin before the semifinals and final.
Sixteen matches will be played across four days, all streamed live to viewers around the world.
The shift from U-19 to U-22 signals the program’s next phase. Since the inaugural edition in 2023, where the Central Rhinos edged the Rwanda Emerging Team, BATBALL X has already proven its value, with 16 players progressing to BATBALL MAXX, the global T20 franchise event held in Kampala in March 2025.
Batball Uganda CEO Aakarshit Madaan said the expanded age group strengthens the pathway;
“It gives university players, A-team members, and emerging cricketers crucial exposure. With Cricket Uganda, we’re building a stronger bridge between youth and senior cricket and preparing the next generation for bigger stages.”
This year’s squads of 14 players, plus a coach and manager each, include standout performers from the 2025 Boys Schools Cricket Week in Fort Portal, along with talent identified through Cricket Uganda’s development system.
Batball Uganda’s sponsorship of Schools Week, from scoring systems to officials’ uniforms and data collection has deepened its partnership with the development arm of Cricket Uganda.
Cricket Uganda Development Manager Davis Turinawe highlighted the importance of the event;
“BATBALL X Jinja T10 is a key step in our pathway. Extending to U-22 gives players the platform to bridge school cricket and the senior game while showcasing Uganda’s emerging talent.”
The Jinja edition is just the beginning. Later in the season, the BATBALL MAXX Qualifier and the flagship BATBALL MAXX will follow, promising more high level action and further opportunities for Uganda’s rising stars.
