Top boxing promoter Eddie Bazira was elected to steer the Uganda Professional Boxing Commission on a mandate to work under the Uganda Boxing Federation.
Bazira was elected independently in the election held at Club Obligato on Saturday, 31st May 2025 as UPBC filled their committee on vacancies voided from last term that ended.
Bazira have been leading the Professional Boxing Commission on an interim basis, taking over leadership in February this year following the stepping down of Salim Uhuru.
The election also unanimously decided Paul Mutebe Tezigwa to become general secretary of the commission, with former UBF Organizing Secretary Paul Ayasi assisting on the responsibilities.




In other posts elected was Public Relations Officer that Geoffrey Kasule Musisi aka Evanda won unopposed, while Emmanuel Mwesigwa Kalumba and Jackline Bakira were also elected unopposed as Promoters and Women’s representatives.
On the only post where the vote was cast, Grace Gidudi won over Rodric Musoke Mugerwa by 30-76, becoming Treasurer-elect for UPBC.
Aldina Muzeeyi, Jacob Wokorach, Simon Katongole Mukisa and Abby Aaroon Mugayi were retained from the outgoing Excom as Boxers, Referees representatives and Vice presidents Administration and Technical.
The election was conducted by Counsel Peter Lubulwa along with Counsel Edwin Tobias Khasufwa and Brenda Ainembabazi, overseen by senior counsel Daudi Kyambadde.
Under the new sports bill, both Uganda Professional Boxing Commission and Uganda Boxing Federation have to work under one umbrella despite finding difficulties in getting on one board.
The Uganda Professional Boxing Commission election was observed by Assistant Commissioner of Sports Sam Odong, who represented the Commissioner of Physical Education in the Ministry of Education and Sports Rev. Conon. Duncan Mugumuya.
