Bika Football: Ngo ejects 2023 champions, Mbogo bounce back to reach group stage

The 2001 Bika Football shield winners Ngo ejected the 2023 winner, Ngonge, as Mbogo overturned a 2-1 deficit against Kinyomo.

Following a 0-0 draw in first round, Ngo playes in a 1-1 draw and later wins on Penalties at Kawanda SS on 15 May 2025.

Ivan Ssemujju scored for Ngo with a tap in and Emmanuel Wasswa equalized with a penalty as both teams scoring inside second half.

On aggregate over the two legs, the game remained tied and shootouts were taken to decide the team to progress to group stage.

In Shootouts both teams scored their shootouts with Peter Ssenkungu stepping on to take Ngonge ‘s third penalty.

That was the moment that decided the game spiced with controversy when Ngo GoalKeeper Disan Ssenabulya decided to have refreshment.

This happen when referee Hakim Matovu was already directed Ssenkungu to shoot and Ssenabulya got booked for the action.

After getting the yellow Card, Ssenabulya continue to walk to Ngo’s technical area and get refreshment, thereafter he returned to goal and saves Ssenkungu’s shot.

That was the only spot kick saved and the game went on to be decided by defender Saulo Kiddawalime for Ngo clan to win 5-4.

In other fixtures, Mbogo and Butiko clans overturned first leg loses to win and progress to tournaments’ group stage.

Mbogo who lost 2-1 to Kinyomo, on Thursday 15 May 2025 pulled up socks win the return leg 1-0 that Juma Lutakome for the goal which tied the game at 2-2 on aggregate before Mbogo winning it 4-1 on Penalties.

Butiko clan excluded Nsuma who had already won three times with 1-0 score including first leg game over Butiko Clan at Lubiri SS.

In the return leg played at Kawanda SS today, Butiko won 1-0 with a goal scored by Dan Mugwanya and Butiko went on to with shootouts 5-4 with Hassan Ali Balunywa netting the deciding penalty.

For defending champions Ngabi Nsamba, the case was maintenance looking to keep a 1-0 first leg win which remained an aggregate score.

Ngaali was also eliminated after winning the first leg 1-0, in return leg Njaza won 3-2 and further win on Penalties 4-3.

For last season losing finalist Mpindi clan was at hit beating Nvubu 8-3 on aggregate.
