National Basketball League side Namuwongo Blazers are smiling all the way to the bank. Flutterwave, a financial technology company is their new sponsor after coughing $18500, approximately Shs69m, until the end of the ongoing season.
The financial boost package was unveiled at a press conference held at Hotel Africana today morning.
“With Flutterwave’s support, we believe we can rise high this season. The sponsorship will enable us to create an even more exciting experience for our fans. It’s the the first step towards taking Blazers to the next level and competing on the continental stage,” Blazers CEO Hajji Farouk Zzinda noted.
As part of the marriage, Flutterwave will participate in community development initiatives with Blazers players to support young talent looking to horn their basketball skills.
“We are a global company with strong African roots and therefore want to do all we can to ensure that African sports can flourish,” Nielsimms Sangho, Flutterwave East Africa Regional Manager said.
With 11 wins already to their name, Blazers currently in fifth place on the log will feature in the playoffs, a stage that demands a rich team depth.
At the same presser, the side on a run of six wins in a row unveiled two more signings in Ariel Okall and Ken Wachira in time for the forthcoming playoffs.
The story that started seven years ago took another huge step today and the future seems to be bright for Namuwongo Blazers.
