Team Uganda led by former International Natural Bodybuilding Association Mr. Universe and Mr. AM World Cup Ivan Byekwaso won three medals at the 2024 INBA/PNBA Pro/Am World Championships.

On his return to the global stage, Byekwaso, a five-time Mr. Uganda Bodybuilding Champion currently based in Germany bagged two medals.

The bodybuilder registered two top-five finishes in the Men’s Open and Masters category finals at the event in the Netherlands over the weekend.

Ivan Byekwaso competed alongside another German based Ugandan David Kaaya clinched the third medal for team Uganda in the open category.

“The competition was stiff and the lineups were tough. But the two medals are better than nothing and I thank God that I was able to come away with something,” Byekwaso noted.

He partially blamed the rustiness as he had taken long without competing. “So, I will now go back to the drawing board and prepare for the next event but I’m happy that I marketed the country well.”

The three-day championship ended with a farewell party on Saturday evening. This was a foodtruck festival with live DJ and lots of good food.
