Brazilian forward Michael Vinicius Silva De Morais is one of the players who did not make the final KCCA FC squad that traveled to Tunisia for the CAF Confederation Cup tie against Libya’s Abu Salim SC.
The 30-year-old was expected to add more experience in KCCA’s striking force but he seems to have failed to fit in the team.
He was not part of the 33-man contingent that travelled for Sunday’s encounter at the Stade Olympique de Rades.
Goalkeeper Juma Mutebi, Tshisungu Kankonde (who went AWOL), Joel Sserunjogi, Dominic Ayella, Elvis Eddy Mwanje, Rogers Atube, James Mubezi, and Haruna Lukwago are the other players that did not make the trip.
KCCA FC were exempted from the first round because of their impressive performances in 2017 and 2018 when they qualified for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup and Champions League respectively.
The team travelled aboard Fly Emirates on Thursday, at 4 pm EAT, and will have a stopover in Dubai before finally connecting to Tunisia on Friday at 1300 EAT.
In Tunisia, the team will be received by Moses Kaddu Ssekiti, Manager of Administration and Operations who travelled earlier as an advanced party.
KCCA made it to the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing second in the league. They had to thank the Vipers after winning a double for them to return to the continent after two years.
The Lugogo side last took part on the continent in 2021 under Mike Mutebi before they were eliminated in the preliminary round on the away goals rule after a 3-3 aggregate tie with Rwanda’s AS Kigali.
