Three days have passed since the prematurely ended Buganda Region 3rd division league game between Synergy FC and Simba FC/Uganda Wildlife Authority on March 28 at Ndeeba ground in Kayunga district.
On Wednesday, April 1, the Buganda Region Football Association disciplinary panel summoned a written defense from the Kayunga-based football club regarding the act of hooliganism that caused the game, which was taking place at Ndeeba Playground in Kayunga, to be abandoned.
Reports from Kayunga continue to claim that the act was initiated by the game’s second Assistant Referee, Yekoyasi Okello, who attacked a spectator identified only as Mbalire, who is also a fellow resident in Kayunga Town.
Sources from other spectators who observed the incident claim that the Assistant Referee was angered by sharp words directed at him by Mbalire.
Following the growing insults, Assistant Referee Okello of Buganda Regional league match number 156 lost his temper and started a fight that lasted two minutes while the game was in progress, before it was abandoned following other stakeholders such as players stepping in to stop the fight.
