Six days before the start of the Buganda Schools games on Thursday, March 5, a draw was held at Bulamagi, with 38 teams confirmed for Boys’ football.

Officials during the meeting.

The draw placed St Michael International School in group H with last year’s winner, Kawempe Muslim.

Head Coach Hakim Ssengendo expressed confidence by saying,

“We are debutants, and we have come to compete and show a challenge. We are going to give it all we’ve got, hence preparing for the coming USSSA season.”

He added, “The draw was fair and well-selected, so this format gives you pressure to make sure you push yourself to be first in the group stage to be able to continue to the next level or even as one of the best losers as second among other groups.”

On the other hand, Cranimmer Kitenda confirms they are up to defend the trophy,

“We are only in this championship to defend this trophy. We are not looking at the group stage; we don’t care who is coming because we won last when the called giants were in the championship.”

The same group got St Mark High School Kayunga, a school that hoped to be stronger, being under Coach Felix Ssekabuza, who guided St Julian Mukono to the USSSA National Championship in 2024.

The draw placed host Kawanda SS in Group D with top performing schools, including Highway SS Kiganda and Greenlight Islamic School, strengthening the group as the most competitive group.

Last Season’s finalist, Buddo SS, was drawn in group I along with Emerging footballing school God’s Way High School Maganjo, while the group also has Caltec Academy Makerere.

Following the Draws, Chairman of the Buganda Schools Organizing Committee, Gerald Katamba, rallied for a massive turnout in crowds to balance the massive turnout from schools.

“Already we have received 90% of the team that took part in last year’s competition, and on that we have attracted a lot of schools which are coming for the first time, therefore  I call upon people from sports circles to come and witness talent development in Buganda Schools.”

Having had 48 teams in last year’s edition, the organizing committee has left the registration window open hopping for more schools to react late.
