Buddo Secondary School has emerged winner of the 2026 Buganda Schools Championship while Kawanda Secondary School’s Ivorex Kalungi finished as the top scorer.

For Buddo SS to win the Championship that had over 50 schools from Buganda Kingdom, they defeated Greenlight Islamic Secondary School Nansana 2-1 in the final played on Sunday, March 15, at Kawanda SS.

Abasi Ali Kisambira opened the score in just four minutes of play, but Greenlight Islamic equalized through tournament MVP Simon Peter Okwi in the 14th minute to have the game 1-1 at halftime.

Three minutes into the second half, Kisambira regained Buddo SS’s lead to 2-1 with the goal that went on to win the trophy, which they missed out on last year when they were beaten by Kawempe Muslim in the final.

For individual performances, Ivorex Kalungi, despite his school Kawanda SS failing to go through the group stage, the striker finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 5 goals, while Simon Peter Okwi was announced the best player of the tournament.

In other football events at the five days championship, Kawempe Muslim retained the girls’ football trophy, beating Standard High Zana 1-0 in the final, while Bright Future managed to dethrone St. Noa for the primary school boys’ football trophy.
