Bujjagali Rafters finished the Day Two of the Waterfalls Men’s Elite T20 Tournament on top after a dominant showing at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, brushing aside an early wobble to announce themselves as the team to beat.
Their campaign began unevenly. They dorminated Itanda Kayakerz by 113 runs on Day One, then slipped to a seven-wicket loss against Karuma Rapids.
But Day Two brought clarity and a statement performance that pushed them to the summit after three matches.
The day opened with Itanda Kayakerz responding well, chasing down Karuma Rapids’ 165 for 8 with five wickets in hand.
Rapids were anchored by Paul Mulongo and captain Kenneth Waiswa, but tidy bowling kept the total manageable. Perry Wazombe then took charge, smashing 70 off 40 balls to guide Itanda home.
That momentum did not last long, in the afternoon, Bujjagali Rafters unleashed a brutal display of batting.
Sent in first, they ripped through the Kayakerz attack to post a tournament record 243 for 6, the highest total in Waterfalls Elite League history.
Robinson Obuya was at the heart of it all, blasting a stunning 75 off just 31 balls. Gerald Olipa added a rapid 52, with runs flowing freely throughout the lineup.
Faced with an impossible chase, Itanda never truly settled and were held to 150 for 8 as the Rafters kept the pressure on from start to finish.
Obuya’s explosive innings earned him Player of the Match and summed up the Rafters’ intent.
After three games, Bujjagali Rafters sit top of the table on four points, with Karuma Rapids and Itanda Kayakerz level on two.
With more tough fixtures on Day Three ahead for the Rapids, double header for Karuma Rapids, who will face Bujjagali Rafters in the morning and return against Itanda Kayakerz in the afternoon.
