  • Bukedea Comprehensive (4) 1-1 (2) Menter SS.

March 1, 2026, has gone down in history as Bukedea Comprehensive School won their first Elite Secondary School games boys’ football trophy after catching up with the 7th edition following the downfall of giant schools such as St. Mary’s Boarding School Kitende and Buddo Secondary School being crushed at early stages.

Bukedea, who handily eliminated SMASK with a 4-1 penalty shootout that followed a 1-1 draw at the Quarterfinals stage, went on to beat Fort Portal 3-0 in the Semifinal and Mentor SS 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the final.

Despite having bagged the East Africa Secondary Schools trophy last year, they expanded their glory through Deus Niwaha’s late equalizer that canceled Gabriel Oyiru’s goal, which had put Mentor SS in front of the game to have the game square after fulltime.

Bukedea’s journey started with a 2-2 draw against Menter SS in the group stage, crushing tournament host Janan SS to reach the quarterfinal, where they shocked the world by using a man-less team to overthrow Giant Kitende.

Finalist Mentor SS, in the semifinal, eliminated Uganda Martyr’s High School as they wrote a strong statement by reaching the final.

In other sports, Buddo SS defended the Netball trophy, beating SMASK in the final 35-31, St. Noa Girls also retained the girls’ football trophy after beating Kawempe Muslim 5-4 on penalties that determined a 0-0 final.
