StarTimes Uganda Premier League leaders, BUL FC, extended their lead to a comfortable six points after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over local rivals Busoga United on Thursday.

Star striker Alex Kitata, proved the hero with the game’s only goal in the 31st minute at the Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru.

The win further cements coach Abbey Kikomeko‘s side at the summit of the table with 32 points, six points clear of Kitara and a healthy eight ahead of Vipers SC, who have played one game less.

Meanwhile, Busoga‘s seventh defeat in 13 matches leaves them precariously close to the relegation zone, currently sitting third from bottom with only 12 points.

Elsewhere in the league, KCCA FC edged out a resilient but ill-disciplined UPDF 2-1 with goals from midfielder Ashraf Mugume and captain Filbert Obenchan.

Mugume opened the scoring in the 20th minute, followed by Obenchan’s decisive strike in the 70th. UPDF’s Faridi Rashidi managed a consolation goal in between, but their hopes were dashed by Aggrey Kirya‘s red card for a second yellow card offense in the 64th minute.

KCCA’s hard-fought win lifts them two places up the table to eighth position with 16 points, while UPDF remain second from bottom with a mere nine points.

At Masindi stadium, Kitara FC delivered a dominant performance, thrashing Arua Hill 7-1. The away team, facing significant challenges, played with only eight players and lacked substitutes, adding to the lopsided victory.

Arua Hill’s struggles extended beyond their depleted roster. Reportedly, head coaches Livingston Mbabazi and John Erebu were absent from the touchline, leaving Tonny Ssenabulya to manage the team.

George Ssenkaaba led the charge for Kitara, bagging a brace, while Denis Omedi, Jude Ssemugabi, Kipper Luwalo, Living Kabon, and Frank “Zaga” Tumwesigye each contributed a goal to the goal fest.

Arua Hill, however, managed a consolation goal through their captain, Gaddafi Wahab, who scored from a direct freekick.

Despite the heavy loss, Arua Hill goalkeeper Hadgi Sukuru earned recognition as the man of the match.
