Ten-man BUL FC extended their winning streak in the Uganda Premier League, defeating Kitara FC 2-1 in a top-of-the-table clash at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru in Buikwe.
A first-half brace from Alex Kitata helped BUL to pull away at the top of the standings with 21 points, while Kitara remained third with 16 points, one behind second-placed Vipers SC.
Midfielder Ibrahim Kazindula was sent off in the second half before Denis Omedi scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the 80th minute.
BUL opened the scoring in the 7th minute of the match when Nicholas Mwere‘s effort found Kitata, who calmly slotted the ball past Kitara goalkeeper Chrispus Kusiima.
In the 19th minute, BUL doubled their advantage through Kitata once again. Mwere’s powerful shot was parried into Kitata’s path, and the striker made no mistake in scoring his sixth goal of the season.
The second half saw heavy downpour, causing a temporary halt to the game before it resumed. Kitara made four substitutions in an attempt to get back into the match.
Their efforts paid off in the 75th minute when Kazindula was sent off for a second bookable offense after a tackle on Solomon Okwalinga.
Despite being down to ten men, BUL managed to hold on to their lead until the 80th minute when Kitara found a consolation goal through Omedi, who capitalized on errors in BUL’s defense.
BUL’s victory extended their winning run to seven matches in eight, solidifying their position at the top of the Uganda Premier League table.
