Walukuba Barbarians underlined their National Sevens Series dominance with a stunning 26–22 comeback over Entebbe Mongers on Day One of the Buffaloes 7s finale.
The series leaders opened the scoring with a converted try, but Mongers replied with two of their own to take a 10–7 halftime lead.
A string of second-half penalties left Walukuba trailing by 15 and seemingly beaten.
Then came Ivan Bulima. The substitute sliced through Mongers’ defence for a solo try and set up Gift Wokorach to trim the deficit to one.
A late fumble threatened the rally, but as the hooter sounded Bulima dashed over again for the match-winner.
The victory sends Walukuba into the quarterfinals as Group B’s top seed and keeps them on course for the series crown.
