Buluuli football club has made a significant coaching change, replacing Anthony Bongole with Chancely Morgan. The move comes after a series of disappointing results, including two draws and a recent 2-1 loss to lower-ranked Butambala.

Morgan has been part of Buluuli’s technical team under technical director Gerald Kakeeto. His appointment was announced following the team’s defeat to Butambala.

Team manager Steven Bujingo Ssebirondwa revealed the sacking and expressed his dissatisfaction with Bongole’s performance:

“We came into the game, and Bongole already knew that it was a must win for him, and what he did – making five changes in lineup, it is like he decided to cost us this game, he must go,” Ssebirondwa said.

The decision to replace Bongole was met with mixed reactions from the playing staff, with some threatening to leave in solidarity with the departing coach, who was saved by Butambala Police from angry Buluuli fans.

However, a day after the ugly incident with the fans, Bongole resigned from his position on Sunday, August 25, saying in a letter to the Ssaza Club:

“The threats that were directed at me by some executive members, the disrespective manner in which the team manager treated the technical bench and the threats from the fans on my life cannot allow me to continue my duties at Buluuli FC.”

Morgan, in his new role, has pledged to build on the foundation laid by Bongole and lead Buluuli towards their desired goals.

The new coach comes with a wealth of experience having guided Paidha Black Angles to FUFA Big league in 2023-24. He also coached Yong Elephant FC Nwoya, Paidha United, and Paidha Black Angels Junior team 2018 in the FUFA Junior League.
