Busitema University is hosting a three-day leadership boot camp organized by the Federation of East Africa University Sports. The camp aimed to equip sports students from across East Africa with essential knowledge and leadership skills.

The event was officially opened on Friday 13 September 2024 by Paul Wako, the Vice Chancellor of Busitema University, who expressed his excitement about hosting the international gathering. Over 120 students from 14 universities in East Africa are participating in the boot camp.

Vice Chancellor Wako emphasized the importance of sports in higher education, highlighting its potential for job creation and economic development. “This boot camp is a great opportunity to nurture leadership in sports and provide insights from celebrated sports personalities,” he stated.

Barrack Aseke, an alumnus of Daystar University in Kenya, shared his positive experience from the first edition.

“I learned a lot about organizing sports events more efficiently, particularly in marketing and finance management,” he said.

The three-day boot camp is expected to have a significant impact on the development of sports leadership in East Africa. By equipping students with the necessary skills, the camp aims to create a more effective and sustainable sports environment in the region.
