Busitema University proudly flew Uganda’s flag at the 4th Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Kings of Africa Rugby 7s Championship, finishing third and emerging as the best Ugandan side at the continental showpiece.

The two-day tournament, held at the KCB Grounds in Ruaraka, Nairobi, from October 4–5, 2025, brought together Africa’s top university teams, all competing for continental glory and preparing for the upcoming FISU World Rugby 7s in South Africa.

Playing with heart and discipline, Busitema delivered one of their finest international performances.

They capped their campaign with a thrilling 22–10 win over Kenya’s University of Eldoret in the third-place playoff, a result that sealed a historic podium finish.

It was a proud moment for Uganda, as Busitema outshone compatriots Makerere University and Uganda Christian University (UCU).

Makerere finished seventh, while UCU narrowly lost 17–14 to the United States International University (USIU) in the Challenger Cup final.

Guided by head coach Paul Waako, Busitema’s squad combined power, teamwork, and tactical awareness to impress against seasoned opponents.

Hosts Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) won the 2025 FASU Kings of Africa Rugby 7s title after edging Zimbabwe’s Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) 17–14 in a tightly contested final.
