Busoga College Mwiri secured their 20th Boys’ Schools Cricket Week title after defeating St John’s High School, Kauga by 25 runs in the final at Nyakasura Main Ground on Saturday.
Mwiri booked their place in the final with a dominant nine-wicket win over Shree Sahajanand School Uganda (SSSU), while St John’s edged hosts Nyakasura School by four wickets in the other semifinal.
Batting first, Mwiri posted 116/9 in 19.5 overs. Captain Gerald Olipa led with a quick 34 off 30 balls, supported by Daniel Muhumuza’s 20 and Abdulshakur Doka’s unbeaten 22.
For St John’s, Jackson Asiku was outstanding with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 12 runs, while Sudais Mpagi grabbed 2 wickets to keep Mwiri in check.
Chasing 117, St John’s managed 91/6 in 20 overs. Ali Balidawa scored 27, and skipper Robert Owili added 21, but Mwiri’s disciplined bowling sealed the win.
Ryan Agaba led the attack with 3 wickets for 25 runs, while Joel Okoth chipped in with 2 for 13 as St John’s middle order crumbled under pressure.
