Late last week, Butaleja district leadership put She Cranes player Faridah Kadondi on an honour roll, promising to make her a beacon of what happens to youngsters who stay the course and achieve significantly in their fields.

Ms. Faridah, in one of her biggest wins from the honour meeting, is to have a road in Butaleja named after her.

According to the district Local Council V, Micheal Higenyi, one of the council resolutions is to name Buzibira Road, one of the busiest roads in the district after Kadondi. The road shall, therefore, be known as Ms Faridah Kadondi Road.

Ms Faridah Kadondi was part of the She Cranes who just represented Uganda and earned fifth place overall and first place in Africa.

“They have shown me how much they love what I do for Uganda and what I have done for the district,” said a jubilant Faridah Kadondi.

Among other things, Ms Farida was a recipient of two pieces of land (East and West of the district), two boreholes will be constructed in Nambusuli Village, Butaleja Sub-county in her honour, and two courts for netball to help shape the next Faridah from Butaleja.

“I am grateful to the council for the love they have shown me, and they believe I have done well in changing the narrative that the district is known for with my participation in games on the world stage.”

Kadondi also received a fresian cow, which she says will stay at home with her parents to help them with milk, and also a starting point for a livestock farm for her family.

Kadondi plays for Makindye Weyonje Netball Club in the Netball Super League as a goal defender and goalkeeper. She also plays basketball for KCCA Leopards in the National Basketball League.

Kadondi promised to use her platform to help young girls and boys who want to use Sports as a career to better their lives, like herself, and also source for help from others wherever she can.
