2025 Masaza Cup | Group stage| Saturday
- Buvuma 1-0 Kyadondo
- Butambala 1-1 Kabula
Buvuma Ssaza delivered a spirited display to earn their first win of the 2025 Masaza Cup, edging Kyadondo 1–0 in a tense clash at Magyo Ssaza Grounds.
Gideon Nsubuga’s second-half strike proved the difference, sending Buvuma fans into celebration and silencing the home crowd. The result takes Buvuma to the top of the Masengere Group with four points from two games, following their opening 1–1 draw with Bugerere.
It was a much-improved performance from Buvuma, who played with purpose and discipline. They defended their lead with composure, frustrating a Kyadondo side that lacked the cutting edge they showed in last week’s win over Bulemeezi.
Kyadondo, led by coach Meddy Nyanzi, struggled to break down Buvuma’s well-organized defense.
Despite the loss, midfielder Trevor Kalule stood out and was named Man of the Match. Kyadondo now sit third in the group with three points and will need to regroup quickly to stay in the quarterfinal race.
“We knew it wouldn’t be easy,” said Buvuma’s coach. “But the boys believed, and Nsubuga’s goal gave us the lift we needed. Now, we have to stay focused.”
Elsewhere, Butambala and Kabula played out a 1–1 draw. Ivan Luyinda scored for Butambala and took home Man of the Match honors, while Jonathan Kabuye equalized for Kabula in a closely fought game.
