Vipers SC progressed to the Second Preliminary Round of the CAF Champions League, after a 4-0 aggregate win over Central African Republic side, Olympic Real De Bangui.
In the first leg, the Venoms beat Bangui 3-0 in Congo Brazaville before following it with a 1-0 win at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday.
The Kitende side will now play former champions TP Mazembe, on October 8 aiming to reach the group stages for the first time.
However, despite this fact, head coach Roberto Oliveira is optimistic his team can break the qualifiers curse.
“I have built this team for over a year and I trust the players so much,” started the tactician in a media brief on Saturday.
“I have coached for 27 years and I know what we have to do to achieve our objectives. We have to compete strongly in all the competitions this season.”
Yunus Sentamu was on the score-sheet for the team’s solitary goal on Saturday, having missed the first leg due to illness.
