Vipers SC face a defining test against Zambia’s Power Dynamos in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, with a place in the lucrative group stage on the line.

The Venoms booked their spot with a calm 2–0 aggregate win over Namibia’s African Stars, finishing the job with a 1–0 victory in Kitende on Saturday.

The performance evoked memories of their 2022/23 run, when they famously dumped TP Mazembe to reach the group phase for the first time.

Power Dynamos arrive hardened by a dramatic battle with Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas.

After a 1–1 aggregate draw, the Zambian champions prevailed 5–4 on penalties, midfielder Chifundo Mphasi slotting the decisive kick after Souleymane Fofana had levelled the tie.

Vipers will host the first leg at St. Mary’s Stadium between October 17 and 19, before travelling to Zambia for the return match a week later.

The winner over two legs secures a coveted ticket to Africa’s top table.
