Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Champions League could get eliminated at the first preliminary round after a 2-0 away defeat to Jwaneng Galaxy in Botswana on Sunday.

The Venoms were struck in the back by Thabang Vincent Sesinyi‘s brace, who ensured Jwaneng Galaxy assumed the tie advantage at the Lobatse Sports Complex.

“Congratulations to Jwaneng Galaxy for their win, but the game is still open,” the Brazilian asserted after defeat in Botswana.

“The game is not over so (because) if Galaxy are able to score two goals at their home, we can also score more than that in Uganda,” he added.

“So, we head back to Uganda and moving forward we have to work a lot, fix a few things and the game for us, is still open.”

“We started a bit slow, accepted them to bring the ball, but it was a very good game, which was also difficult for everyone,” Neiva conceded.

Vipers will rue wasted chances as Yunus Sentamu twice, Rodriguez Giancarlo and Bright Anukani all had opportunities to find the back of the net in vain.

The Venoms on Saturday at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, as the hosts will need a win of at least three goals to sail through to the next round.

A 2-0 win for Vipers will only tie the encounter on aggregate and will thus imply spot-kicks to determine the victor.
