CAF Champions League Preliminary Round
- Vipers 1-0 African Stars (Agg 2-0)
Vipers SC advanced to the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League with a hard-fought 1–0 win over Namibia’s African Stars on Saturday at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, completing a 2–0 aggregate victory.
The Venoms, already ahead from the first leg in Cape Town, endured a tense first half as the visitors pushed for an equaliser.
Edmar Ronaldo Kamatuka twice threatened first dragging a shot wide with only goalkeeper Denis Kiggundu to beat, then rattling the upright moments later.
After the break, Vipers regained control. In the 61st minute Yunus Sentamu punished a defensive lapse, calmly slotting past the keeper to seal the tie.
The Ugandan champions stayed organized to the end, frustrating the Namibian side and securing a well-deserved spot in the next round, where they will face either Zambia’s Dynamos Power or Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas.
