In the aftermath of knowing their opponents for the Preliminary Round of the CAF Champions League, Vipers SC head coach Roberto Oliveira alias Robertinho has expressed confidence in the team’s readiness to go as far as possible in the competition.

The Venoms were on Tuesday drawn against Central African Republic outfit Olympic Real De Bangui for the first round.

“We trust our team and our way of playing and are ready for these matches,” said assistant coach Marcelo Cardoso to the Vipers Media.

The Venoms will be the guests in the first leg between 09th-11th September, 2022. The return leg will then take place between 16th-18th September, which is a week after the first, at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

“Our opponents don’t have a lot of history in this competition, and they don’t have a lot of information but, all we have to do is continue getting ready for any challenge,” added the Brazilian.

The victor on aggregate will then take on Democratic Republic of Congo side, TP Mazembe in the second round.

Cardoso, who acknowledges the fact that Mazembe is a powerhouse, also feels Vipers will put up the right challenge.

“TP Mazembe awaits the winner and they are a big club on the continent, have won a number of champions league titles and compete at a top level,” he assessed.

“But, we will try and prepare our way because our objective is to go as far as possible for this season.”

“We trust the players and are preparing them even better for the challenge in the Champions League.”

“We are together in this, the players, technical team, management, administration, the president and the fans,” added head coach Robertinho.
