KCCA FC will face a tough test when they take on Abu Salim from Libya in the CAF Confederation Cup first leg away today at 6pm, at Stade Olympique de Rades in Tunisia.
The Ugandan giants have struggled in the past to pick results away from home in continental assignments, but they are determined to make it to the group stages this time around.
KCCA coach Sergio Traguil is optimistic that his team has what it takes to get a positive result in Tunis.

“It was a busy pre-season but I believe we have benefited from it. We are going to play a team that fights a lot till the last second. The boys are ready and if they follow what we have been doing, we shall get the result.”
“We respect Abu Salim. They have the advantage since their league started and they have played some continental games before. We don’t want to look at that, rather we want to see how we shall handle the game,” Traguil said.
Abu Salim eliminated Olympique de Béja (Tunisia) 1-0 on aggregate to make it to the second round, and they will be looking to gain a first leg advantage.

KCCA have struggled to score goals in the past, but Traguil has been working hard on this aspect of the team’s game.
Just like Traguil, captain Julius Poloto is confident that KCCA has the potential to perform well in Tunis.
“We started the pre-season early and this has given us proper preparations,” Poloto said.

“We knew the task ahead. That’s why our preparations were centered on making it to the group stages. We know playing away comes with pressure but we are ready. We have some young players in the team but I believe the experienced ones will guide them.”
