KCCA FC are on the verge of elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Libya’s Abu Salem in the first leg of the second round on Sunday, September 17, 2023.
The Ugandan Premier League runners-up went into the game with high hopes of picking a positive result to brighten their chances of making it to the group stages, but they were unable to do so.
KCCA have struggled to score goals in the recent past, and this continued to haunt them as they suffered a defeat on the road.
Defender Mustafa Mujuzi was sent off shortly after substitute and youngster Abu Mayanja scored KCCA’s only goal.
The two sides will meet again at St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende on September 30, with KCCA needing to score at least two goals without conceding, to have any chance of advancing to the group stages.
