The Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe is high in anticipation for the Chan tournament in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

The optimism follows the impressive completion of the tour which aimed to check on facilities for the 2025 Championship.

The tour started in Tanzania then Kenya and ended in Uganda where Motsepe faced the sports media on two occasions on 20 December 2024.

While addressing the media up on his arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Motsepe commented;

“Seeing Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania getting together for football purposes is really impressive, it gives us hope for the most exciting Chan edition in the history of the competition.”

Following the check-up at Mandela National Stadium, Motsepe reunited with the media and mentioned;

“I am leaving Uganda impressed, the facility is in very good condition and the stadium is in excellent mode.

“This time it is CHAN but it also gives us a good foundation for AFCON 2027 and this East Africa union is good enough to lead us to the most successful CHAN edition as they host Africa before hosting the entire world in 2027.

“CAF has made several inspections on the facility in recent months and this is one of the most remarkable”

The CHAN shall take action in February 2025 as it will be the first time to be hosted in different nations while East Africa will be hosting it for the second time in history having had it in Rwanda back in 2016.

This would have been the third but Kenya missed out on hosting the 2018 edition due to a delay in preparations.
