The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has recorded its first profit in several years, signaling a strong financial recovery under President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

The announcement came during the 47th CAF Ordinary General Assembly held on Monday, October 6, 2025, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.

For the 2023–2024 financial year, CAF reported a net profit of USD 9.48 million — a remarkable turnaround from years of deficits. The improvement stems from higher commercial revenues, new sponsorships, and stricter financial management introduced through the 2021 turnaround strategy.

“When I came in, CAF was facing serious financial and legal challenges,” said Dr. Motsepe.

“We committed to building a sustainable and globally competitive African football ecosystem and these results show our progress.”

CAF’s total revenue rose to USD 166.42 million, with spending directed toward football development; USD 81 million for prize money, USD 35 million for development programs, USD 19 million for tournament organisation, and USD 21 million for governance and administration.

Beyond balancing its books, CAF has boosted investment in competitions, prize money, and support for member associations and regional unions.

Prize money increases include:

CAF Champions League winners: USD 4 million (+60%)

CAF Confederation Cup and Champions League prelim clubs: USD 100,000 (new)

CAF Women’s Champions League winners: USD 600,000 (+52%)

CHAN winners: USD 3.5 million (+75%)

CAF Super Cup winners: USD 500,000 (+150%)

WAFCON champions: USD 1 million (double previous)

AFCON champions: USD 7 million (+40%)

CAF’s list of sponsors has grown to 16, reflecting the rising global appeal of African football and its growing commercial strength.

The organisation says it remains committed to ensuring that this growth directly benefits clubs, players, and national associations across the continent.
