Uganda’s representatives Kampala Queens FC will face Buja Queens in the second game of the tournament on Wednesday afternoon at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

In the first game, Kampala Queens FC defeated Yei Joint Stars 3-0 thanks to Fazila Ikwaput’s hat-trick, while Buja Queens lost their first game 1-2 to Commercial Bank of Ethiopia.

Buja Queens is boosted by the availability of Asha Jafari and Vivian Corazone who are reportedly cleared to play the game after missing the opening match.

The duo adds experience and rich history to the team having featured for Simba Queens in the last two editions and won the last tournament with Corazone being named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

Kampala Queens FC head Coach Charles Ssenyange tasked players to perform at their best.

“All the players are in good shape apart from Hasifah Nassuna but we have good and enough squad numbers to win games, we scored three goals in the opening game but that doesn’t give us guarantee that we’re winning the next game, we have to do our best and get maximum points.” Ssenyange stated.

Opportunity for new players to shine

Midfielder Shakirah Nyinagahirwa who made her dream debut in the opening game, is ready to give her best for the team.

“To me, I had a good debut but now the focus is on Buja Queens game and I am ready to step on the pitch and play for the badge if given an opportunity.” She said.

Shakirah Nyinagahirwa is expected to start in the midfield ahead of the doubtful Hasifah Nassuna.

A win for Kampala Queens FC, will widen their chances to qualify for semifinals as they will be looking for only one point in their next two games.

The top two teams from each group, will automatically qualify for the semifinals and the winner of the tournament will represent East Africa region in the final tournament of CAF Women’s Champions League that will be played between 5th to 19th November, 2023 in Ivory Coast.
