Kampala Queens have secured a place in the semifinals of the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers after advancing as the best second-placed team.
Their progress was confirmed when Tanzania’s JKT Queens beat South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars 2-0 on Thursday at Kasarani Stadium.
The Ugandan champions had to wait on Group C results, and JKT’s victory sealed their path.
JKT topped the group with six points from two games, while Kampala Queens claimed the final semifinal slot.
JKT broke through in the 60th minute with a Jamila Rajabu Mnunduka strike before right-back Esther Maseke doubled the lead eight minutes later.
Earlier, Ethiopia’s CBE FC and Zanzibar’s Top Girls Academy played out a goalless draw, confirming both teams’ exit.
The semifinals are set for Sunday: JKT Queens face Kenya Police Bullets, while Kampala Queens take on Rwanda’s Rayon Sports Women in a heated East African clash.
Winners will meet in Tuesday’s final, with a single slot at the CAF Women’s Champions League finals in November on the line.
For Kampala Queens, reaching the semifinals keeps alive their dream of a first-ever continental appearance.
