CAF Womenโs Champions League Zonal Qualifiers
- Kenya Police Bullets 1-0 Kampala Queens
Kenya Police Bullets FC kicked off their CAF Womenโs Champions League Zonal Qualifiers with a narrow 1-0 win over Kampala Queens in a tense Group A opener at Nyayo National Stadium on Thursday.
Substitute Emily Kemunto scored the decisive goal just a minute into the second half, heading home after Kampala Queens goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro was caught out of position.
The first half offered few chances, with Margret Kunihira forcing Nakaziro into a brilliant save to keep the scores level at the break.
After Kemuntoโs opener, the Bullets pushed for a second, but Zainah Namulemeโs header hit the post, and Nakaziro denied her on the rebound. Diana Wacera also struck the crossbar as the Kenyans dominated.
Kampala Queens introduced Catherine Nagadya, Kamiyat Naigaga, Square Maiwase, and Jolly Kobusinge in search of an equalizer, but the Bulletsโ defense held firm.
Kunihira kept testing Nakaziro, but the Ugandan keeper stood strong to prevent further damage.
The win puts Kenya Police Bullets on top of Group A, while Kampala Queens sit bottom.
The Ugandan champions now face debutants FC Denden on Sunday, September 7, in a must-win clash to keep their semifinal hopes alive.
