The Court of Arbitration for Sport has confirmed it has received an appeal from the Senegalese Football Federation, opening a fresh chapter in the dispute over the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 title.

The appeal follows a ruling by the Confederation of African Football on March 17, 2026, which declared that Senegal had forfeited the final and awarded a 3-0 win to Morocco, naming them champions.

Senegal is now asking CAS to overturn that decision and recognize them as the rightful winners. The federation has also requested more time to submit its full appeal until CAF explains the reasons behind its ruling.

CAS says an arbitral panel will be formed to hear the case. Senegal will then have ten days to present its arguments, while CAF will have twenty days to respond.

For now, there is no clear timeline for when the case will be heard. CAS Director General Matthieu Reeb said the process will move as quickly as possible while remaining fair.

The case now heads into a legal battle that could yet change the outcome of AFCON 2025.
