Rugby fans will have to wait a little longer for the return of the Central 7s after the Central Uganda Rugby Association (CURA) cancelled the 2025 edition of the tournament.
In a statement released on June 20 and signed by CURA Chairman Senteza Charles, the association cited “logistical challenges” as the reason for calling off the event, which had been scheduled for June 21 and 28.
The letter, bearing a bold title “Cancellation of Central 7s 2025,” was addressed to teams, partners, and supporters. It expressed regret over the decision and thanked the rugby community for its continued support.
“This decision comes after careful consideration, ” the statement read.
“We remain committed to the growth of rugby in the region and will resume the Central 7s tournament as soon as conditions allow.”
CURA also pledged timely updates on future plans and encouraged fans to stay connected through official channels.
