Central Rhinos and Nile Leopards lived up to their favorites tag on the opening day of the Batball X tournament, winning both their group matches.
Rhinos started the day with a 74-run win over Western Bulls, thanks to a quickfire 43 from Owoli Obele. Captain Christopher Kidega also impressed with 46 runs, while Ali Balidawa took three wickets.
Rhinos then followed up with an 11-run win over Rwanda Emerging, with Balidawa again taking three wickets.
Leopards also won both their games, beating Eastern Buffalos by 45 runs and Northern Elephants by 56 runs.
Jonathan Nyiiro scored 33 runs for Leopards against Buffalos, while Hassan Bagaga hit the tournament’s first half-century (58) against Elephants. Bagaga also took two wickets in that match to be named Player of the Match.
Rhinos and Leopards now lead their respective groups with maximum points, and will be looking to continue their winning ways in the matches tomorrow.
