Central Rhinos lived up to the ‘favourites’ tag as they convincingly beat Rwanda Emerging by 35 runs to win the Batball X on Sunday.
Rhinos came into this tournament as the team to beat, but after their group stage and Super 4 matchups with Emerging, there was belief that they had met their size, and when both teams made it to the final, a hotly contested final was anticipated.
That did not happen! Instead Rhinos sailed through the final, bowling out their opponents with three balls to spare.
Rwanda Emerging -who against Eastern Buffalos scored 132 runs were unable to hit 100 in this game. They won the toss and opted for the ball. They let Rhinos put 106/4 on board, but as it turned out, the score was way too high for them to chase as they were bowled out with just 71 runs.
Christopher Kidega, the captain of Central Rhinos was once again on the forefront.
Kidega notched 53 off 23 and also had two wickets to his name. His display like it’s been throughout the tourney earned him the Player of the Match award.
Kidega notched the most sixes in the competition (14) that’s five more than the next best.
Yunusu Sowobi and Musa Majid each picked three wickets, while Jaffer Ochaya came in with two.
Rhinos’ bowlers were ruthless. Rwanda Emerging had to wait until the introduction of Eloi Loic Abimbabazi (who came in at number 4) to score a run. The top order was all cleaned inside the first two Overs.
