In a move that blends sport with tradition, the Uganda Schools Rugby Association (USRA), in collaboration with Beyond Sports Organization and the Buganda Kingdom, has rebranded the iconic Central Schools 7’s tournament to the Coronation 7’s, bringing a royal touch to one of Uganda’s most anticipated school sports events.

The 2025 edition of the tournament is set to be the biggest yet, featuring 12 top school teams competing across four circuits. The revamped format is designed to build momentum, with each circuit serving as a prelude to the grand finale, a ceremonial event graced by dignitaries from the Buganda Kingdom and other esteemed guests.

The tournament will kick off at King’s College Budo on June 8th, followed by events at London College of St. Lawrence (June 15th), Namilyango College (June 22nd), and culminating at Makerere College School on June 29th.

Adding further prestige, the official launch of the Coronation 7’s will take place on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, at Makerere College School. The event will bring together games teachers and team captains from all participating schools, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling series of matches.

The rebranding reflects the growing partnership between the Uganda Rugby Union, the Buganda Kingdom, and various stakeholders committed to advancing the sport.

The Coronation 7’s aims not only to elevate the level of competition but also to celebrate Ugandan schools’ rugby talent on a grand stage.
