Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, is ready to host Group C matches of the 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), following a successful final inspection by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Uganda’s home ground will feature one of the tournament’s toughest groups Uganda, South Africa, Niger, Guinea, and Algeria when the competition kicks off on August 2, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The 8-day CAF inspection tour, which reviewed venues across the three host countries, ended in Kampala on July 9.

Teams from CAF’s Competitions, Marketing, Media, Safety & Security, Broadcast, and Infrastructure departments worked alongside local organizers to ensure readiness.

“This was a thorough and coordinated effort,” CAF said in a statement. “With just days to go before the tournament begins, this marks a major milestone in East Africa’s hosting.”

The final checks started in Nairobi at Kasarani Stadium, the venue for the final, then moved to Nyayo International Stadium, Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium, and Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, which will host the opening ceremony, before concluding at Namboole.

Now, all eyes are on Kampala, where the Uganda Cranes will hope to use home advantage in a group filled with quality and experience inorder get their maiden chance to leave the group stage.

Co-hosting the tournament is a major moment for Uganda and the region in preparation of the 2027 Africa Cup Of Nations.
